I purchased this version of the Feather Violin Pickup for a set of gigs in completely different venues -- outdoor blow-up igloo @ 14 degrees C to a bright, open art gallery. It produced a fantastic sound, has great build quality, and was easy to use! I ran it through simple DI boxes and straight into and amp without any issues. The gain control hangs on your belt and the 'roach clip' mic holder fits nicely on the tailpiece, both freeing up a heavy cable from your fiddle. I had no issues with feedback, though that's set up more than anything. I briefly tried it on my tenor banjo and it worked will with that instrument, too. There are a few videos online of this mic being demo'd and all pretty much agree the sound is very good. Better mics are out there but the improved sound would not likely be discerned by the average person in an audience or listening to the audio -- and those better mics push close to double the price of this one. Recommended.
