... a specific task. If you need it, you know it, and if you don't need it, you probably know that too. There's no power that can be carried over these fiber optic cable of this type -- they are for data transmission only, as far as I know, and they are specific in their hookup -- IE: one end is for the source, the other for the destination, and they are so marked. Fiber optics are more reliable over greater distances with regards to interference and data degradation (or so I am told -- I claim no expertise in this area) so If a long run is in your future, this cable should probably be there too.
