I previously tried the dongle style docks and they were terrible for cable management. The way I see it, if manufacturers are placing two HDMI outs on it, they clearly intend for it to be used in a desk. With that said, having cables running into all four sides is a terrible design. After struggling with that I decided to purchase this hub because all of the ports run out the back making my desk more manageable. So glad I made this purchase. The box doesn't take up too much space and has a few useful uab A and C ports in the front; making it accessible for day to day tasks like connect flash drives, cameras phones, etc.The only thing I don't like is that it is always on. My workaround is to simply turn off the power strip that it is connected to.Not ideal to travel with due to the shape. I still have a smaller dongle for that.No other issues or complaints. Works as expected.This compact and feature rich Dock seems like it does everything, and for a modest price. My main hesitancy was buying a dock that wanted to occupy BOTH USB-C ports on my Mac; while that has turned out to be less of problem than I had feared there IS one thing that I am very frustrated with: power management.I cannot have both my USB-3 backup drive AND my iPhone plugged in to the Dock at the same time. Nor can I have 2 backup drives plugged in at the same time. The dock cannot distribute that much power and fails GRACELESSLY: it suddenly "goes down" and attempts a reboot, causing my backup drives, external monitor, network connection, etc. to all suddenly fail. This seems unacceptable for a dock powered by USB-C, which should be able to intelligently distribute power and should be able to spin up 6 or 8 spinning drives, let alone one plus an iPhone. It is not clear whether my MacBook factory power brick may be a factor; note that this dock does NOT come with its' own AC power adapter. Perhaps that is the root of the problem; failure to include a power supply that will assure adequate power for the dock.Since both ports on my Mac are occupied by the Dock cable, my options here are limited: syncing my iPhone will require first manually unplugging my backup disk, or I'll sync the phone when not using the Dock. :
